Integration of electric vehicles into public transport using car sharing systems

The Project

Within BeMobility a testbed with e-cars which are integrated with the help of car-sharing-systems into public transportation is established. The project is focusing on the customer and on the development of innovative mobility concepts.

Objectives

The relative small ranges and long charging times, which are depending on the infrastructure for charging, require novel, user-friendly mobility concepts. In this regard, the public transport will play a key role. Embedded in a multimodal mobility concept, customers can exploit the advantages of any systems within any public means of transports: a combination of ecologically friendly e-cars on the street and the permanent availability and unrestricted ranges of public transport. The integration along mobility services, e-cars and charging infrastructure constitutes the core of BeMobility.

While providing a seamless transition between each mode of transport, the customer stays is in the center of focus attention. A stronger integration primarily means a tight and so far not practiced collaboration of transport carriers, energy providers, infrastructure providers, car manufacturers and –suppliers as well as IT-companies and research institutions. Thus, it is intended to offer the possibility of providing the customer comprehensive information of local availability of e-cars as well as the charge of battery and feasible ranges at any time. Also, the access to the cars as well the public transport providers are organized on the basis of an integrative „check-in/check-out“-mechanism.

DAI-Labor develops services and user interfaces within the scope of the project in order to facilitate a comfortable and intuitive interaction with the BeMobility system. Thereby, a comprehensive master plan is created, which unifies the heterogeneity of single modes of transport such as pedelecs, e-cars and public transport as well as underlying ICT on a consistent service platform. Both, for mobility service providers and users a base for technologies is created, which corresponds to the requirements of novel and as far as possible across-transportation-means mobility concept, preparing the realization of new mobility services and giving the main points of individual and sustainable mobility.

Concretely, it is analyzed, whether an integration

  • is technically feasible
  • is actually demanded by the public
  • can raise the performance of passenger transformation
  • is urbanistic realizable
