Indoor-Lageerkundung für Spezialeinheiten (SE) mit Drohnen

This project’s objective is the invalidation of restraints that previously kept the police’s special forces from using unmanned aerial vehicles for indoor exploration by developing a robust and reliable platform that assists the officials in a beneficial way. To achieve this goal, the DAI-Labor focusses on the following subprojects:
- The development of a sensor and communication concept which combines sensors that not only help the drone navigate autonomously but also deliver meaningful data to the police forces.
- The improvement of algorithms for indoor navigation and exploration based on existing approaches in indoor localization and mapping with a special focus on environments with bad visibility conditions.
- The enhancement of the drones understanding of high-level commands issued by the police officers and tactical circumstances regarding the current deployment. This will enable it to make informed decisions and perform the required actions.
