KINO - Lokalisierung und Orientierung von Geräten mit monokularer Optik aus dem Cosumerbereich
The ZIM-funded project KINO aims at supporting designers, architects or building owners during the construction process of buildings with commercially available smartphones and augmented reality to track the progress of construction with help of digital models.
For this purpose, methods are to be developed that can visually compare the planned construction progress with the actual situation on site and visualize agreement and deviations using AR technologies in an appropriate way.
Sub-problems include the accurate determination of position and orientation of the smartphone, a sufficiently accurate mapping process of the environment, and e.g. the recognition and mapping of BIM (Building Information Model) objects.
Further expected challenges are given by the construction process, so that at certain stages there will be large structural and visual differences to a previous mapping, or feature-deprived environments can be expected.
