“Smart Service Welt” – DAI Labor is among the winners of the technology competition
The federal ministry of economic affairs and energy has chosen 16 projects to promote at the technology program “Smart Service world – web-based services for economy”. The program has a total volume of EUR 90 Million. The DAI Labor is with his project “AcRoSS” – Tools to implement augmented reality-based product-service systems among the winners. Headed by Fraunhofer IPTs and together with the project partners Atos SE, Ubimax GmbH, Kieback & Peter und Krause-Biagosch GmbH they work at the project for the next three years.
With the Augmented Reality glasses virtual objects, with which the user can interact also, screen into his field of view. Instead of an artificial world with the virtual reality glasses, it creates an overlaid reality. The field of applications is huge and not been exhausted totally yet. For example in the industry you can use them as a scanner, on the glasses the next working steps can be shown or figures can be documented. Defect appliances or sensors can be recognized in the smart home. So the maintenance will be much easier. Many application fields require a construction kit, which allows using the glasses in different areas without any problems. The DAI labor and project partners are working on a construction kit with services. So the Augmented Reality glasses can entry easily in different application areas.
The DAI Labor and the chair “Agent technologies in business applications and telecommunication” at the Technische Universität Berlin, are headed by Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Sahin Albayrak. The labor with more than 120 employees grew up to one of the largest research institutes in the field of “Smart Services and Smart Systems”. In numerous projects they develop intelligent services and systems to support the daily life. Their goal is to make science tangible for users and bring it into industry, society and companies. To reach this goal, they work on three different levels:
- Competence Centers – Research area
- Application- and Expertcenters – Development of system results
- Living Labs – research results presented in real environment.
