Smart e-User: Concept for elektric urban logistics

The project Smart e-User is one of six projects at the DAI-Laboratory, which belongs to the research program “Berlin-Brandenburg International Showcase for Electromobility” („Berliner Schaufenster Elektromobilität“). Focus of this project is the commercial transport. Electric vehicles (till 3,5 t) of freight traffic and service providers will be researched, developed and tested to be used more effective, energy-saving and well-timed. The goal is to use the renewable energy sources, take account of the traffic situation and develop a holistic and economic IT-System. The current traffic situation will take account by the route planning of electric vehicles. Especially times with high proportion of renewable energy will be preferred for charging the electric vehicles. The main goal of the project is to bring together the components: electric vehicle, traffic, energy, it-system and process design, so that they can achieve an economically sustainable concept. The in real business models developed solutions will be tested as a part of a fleet trial with 30 e-vehicles in the Berlin-Brandenburg Showcase.

Since April 2012, Berlin-Brandenburg has been one of four regions chosen to take part in the Electromobility Showcase initiative. €100 million will be funded from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy for the Showcase program. A total of €180 million will be funded by the federal government for the Showcase program. The goal is to turn Berlin Brandenburg into a leading metropole of electromobility in Europe. In this region are already 150 planned, ongoing and finished projects, almost 500 electric vehicles and more than 200 charging stations. The Berlin Agency for Electromobility (eMo) is coordinating the projects in the region of Berlin Brandenburg. www.emo-berlin.de.
