GT ARC Workshop in Istanbul
At the closing ceremony of the “German-Turkish Year of Research, Education and Innovation 2014”, both the ministers, Johanna Wanka (Federal Minister of Education and Research, Germany) and Filkri Isik (Turkish Minister of Science, Industry and Technology) suggested that GT ARC should build up a platform to initiate research projects within the European framework such as Horizon 2020.
Building around this suggestion GT ARC recently organized first workshop of the workshop-series “German-Turkish Cooperation in H2020” on July 2-3, 2015 in Istanbul. The workshop was a success with the participation from a large number of Turkish and German companies and research Institutes. Representatives from SAP, SAP AG, SAP Development Center, Turkish Airlines (THY), ING BANK, Deutsche Telekom AG/Laboratories, TÜV IT, TÜBITAk, Technic University Istanbul (ITÜ), Technic University Gebze and the DAI-Laboratory of the Technischen Universität Berlin attended the workshop.
GT ARC presented ongoing projects and shared the project ideas for Horizon 2020 program with main focus on IT security, education, mobility and transport. The presentations were followed by a number of discussions and brain-storming sessions with participants for capturing the participants’ views. The workshop served multi-fold objectives: involving industrial and research partners to share ideas, initiating the concrete projects, and building cooperation amongst the partners. The brain-storming session concluded with four concrete project ideas and a roadmap for further pursuing these initial project ideas.
The second workshop of workshop-series will aim at identifying the required skills for the initiated project activities. Possible partners from Turkey, Germany and European countries will be invited. The workshop is planned to take place in Istanbul.
