The DAI Laboratory (Distributed Artificial Intelligence Laboratories) and the Department of Agent Technologies in Operational Applications and Telecommunications (AOT), headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dr. h.c. Sahin Albayrak have been conducting research since 1992 with the aim of developing and communicating technologies for a new generation of services and distributed systems. The DAI-LAB successfully conducts innovative research project with partners from academia and industry.

We are looking for a researcher expert in the domains of Chatbots, Semantic Knowledge Management, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) research group. The specific focus in the planned project are advanced Chatbot technologies, intent detection, knowledge extraction, text generation, and optimization methods.

Responsibilities

  • Research in the fields listed above
  • Management of cooperation projects with industry partners
  • Development and evaluation of chatbot prototypes in cooperation with industry partners
  • Contribution to scientific conferences and workshops
  • Presentation of results on meetings and conferences

Requirements

  • Successfully completed academic university studies (Master’s degree, diploma or equivalent) in computer science or comparable subject area
  • Very good programming skills and experiences with JAVA and tools for developing JAVA Code. Knowledge in Python programing, Web methods, containers (docker) and Shell-programing are a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of State-Of-The-Art methods in automatic text analysis, language models and Natural Language Processing (NLP).
  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and optimization approaches.
  • Experiences with dialog systems, semantic knowledge processing, recommender systems and text retrieval systems are an advantage
  • Experiences with agile software development and project management
  • Good abstraction skills, modelling and finding creative solutions
  • Good knowledge of German (ability to evaluate language models for German texts; communication with project partners in German)
  • Previous experience in academic/industrial collaborative projects is an advantage
